In three and a half weeks, MRDA #3 ranked NYSE will be playing MRDA #1 ranked Your Mom Men’s Derby in a double header with Gotham Girls Roller Derby’s Queens of Pain and Manhattan Mayhem.

Last time these teams met about a year ago, at Spring Roll, Your Mom was victorious 199 to 150. We’re really pumped to get the chance to play them in front of New York fans at Abe Stark Arena in Coney Island. Doors open at 3:00PM, first whistle is at 5:00PM, with NYSE’s bout scheduled to start at around 7pm.

If you’ve never seen men’s derby, and are in the NYC area, this is going to be a bout worth coming to.

General admission tickets are now on sale for $19.99 at ggrdtix.com. Tickets will be available at the door for $25, subject to availability. Due to the layout of the venue, there will be no VIP seating for this event. See ggrdtix.com for transit and entry information.

I’m so excited for this bout. If you are my friend, and have never seen me play derby, this is a great bout to come to. It should be super fast paced and super intense. This is only the third time my team has gotten a chance to play in NYC in the six seasons I’ve been playing. It’s super easy to get to.

I love how they didn’t photoshop her little boob/armpit roll thingy because my boobs do that all the time and it’s the first time I’ve seen this happen on someone in a magazine!

It’s so stupid but little things like that can be so reassuring.

Sarah Moola - Young, British and Muslim

Sarah Moola is the only Muslim girl in the UK who competes in roller derby. Despite its reputation as an aggressive contact sport with women wearing raunchy costumes, Sarah adores roller derby and insists it does not clash with her religious beliefs. When she was meeting prospective husbands with her parents, Sarah was careful to choose someone who would be happy to let her pursue her love of roller derby.

I filmed for this about a month ago. I hope other muslims see it and realise that it’s possible to get involved in sport without compromising your faith.

Daphne’s journey through roller derby always inspires me.
